Month: Aug 2023

  • Two weeks today I start this epic ride, still uncertain as to whether I can achieve all I have set out to do but as I have already said I wanted this to be a challenge not something I could easily achieve! Preparation is going well, I’m booking and looking for accommodation at the stop off points and also thinking of what I need to carry, it needs to be minimal as my bike is made of composite material and cannot have traditional pannier bags! In the next few days I’ll take a video of the storage space I have available and what I need to fit in! Thank you to those who have donated so generously to this cause, its really close to my heart.

  • Annual Mileage

The graph below shows my monthly mileage over the last 12 months and as you can see I am building up but this cycle ride will be a significant challenge!

  • One of the problems with living on the South Coast of England is finding any hills – usually not a problem for me but in order to be ready for the climbs ahead I found the climb below in the South Downs!!

  • Training is going well, I am aiming to cycle each day albeit only for 1-2 hours fitted around other commitments, I figure as I cycle regularly the challenge will be to get back on the bike day after day!

I’m am fundraising for MIND and have prepared a Just Giving Page that has gone live today. The address is https://www.justgiving.com/page/adam-sims-1692491033250please be generous!

  • Day 1 Route

This is day 1! It looks like big climbs over Beachy Head and out of Hastings but nothing like what is to come!!

  • Cycling

I decided to cycle around the Coastline of mainland UK to raise funds for MIND. I plan to cycle 100 miles a day for c45 days to cover the 4,500 miles. I leave my home in Angmering West Sussex on 14th September. Please see my back story for more details, please donate and please read this Blog as I make progress
